Ayelen

Gabin

Born in Argentina in 1987, Ayelen graduated at the University of Buenos Aires as a Costume Designer. Always curious about arts and particularly passionate about cinema and theater she decides to focus her career around stage costumes, complementing her education at the Higher Institute of Arts at the Colón Theater, at the San Martín National Theater, and at the Ricardo Rojas cultural center.

In 2008, still in college, Ayelen made her first experiences as a costume designer in short films and music videos. This is the starting point of her wonderful journey rich in projects of cinema, theater, opera and ballet.

Convinced that travels can nourish her professional growth, Ayelen decides to leave in 2014 to learn new techniques and discover crafting skills from different cultures visiting destinations in Europe, Asia, Mexico, and Cuba.

Currently in Geneva, Switzerland, she develops professionally in historical reenactment events such as the “Fête de l’escalade” and “Déjeuner sur l’herbe” at the Swiss National Museum. Ayelen also collaborates with filmmakers like Juan José Lozano and Mikaël Ivan Roost and theater directors like Michele Millner, Mathieu Chardet, and Thierry Roland among others. She creates and produces historical and contemporary costumes according to the needs of each project. Since 2017, she has joined the team at the Grand Opera House in Geneva as an auxiliary dresser

Throughout her many experiences, Ayelen has been able to master all the stages that involve the design of a costume. Starting with the script analysis, the conceptual creation defining the characters using sketches, all throughput the production of prototypes, dyeing, the patina, the decoration, and costume construction, up to the final stages joining the artist during tours and maintenance of the costumes.

All of these roles characterize Ayelen as a versatile costume designer, with vast experience in the artistic sector and fully capable of leading a costume design project with a global perspective.
